- 6.1MediumOct 22, 2026Discourse XSSCVE-2017-20290Discourse 1.9.0.beta2 before 1.9.0.beta13 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to inject scripts through the email parameter of /email/unsubscribed. Attackers can craft GET requests with SVG onload payloads, which unsubscribed.html.erb renders unescaped via html_safe, executing JavaScript in victims' browsers. Exploitation evidence was first observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2023-10-19.
- 4.3MediumOct 16, 2026discourse-doc-categories Information disclosureCVE-2026-57447Discourse Doc Categories is a plugin for organizing Discourse topics as documentation. Prior to the verified source fix, the doc category index refresh resolves linked titles for private messages or restricted category topics without enforcing the viewer's authorization. A user who can edit the index topic can use this behavior to learn titles that the user is not authorized to view, although the advisory does not establish access to topic contents. This vulnerability is addressed by commit b15d
- 8.6HighOct 15, 2026discourse-activity-pub Auth bypass / access controlCVE-2026-55103Discourse ActivityPub adds ActivityPub support to Discourse. Prior to commit 1c8518b0f2abdf31cbea3e0b242f74d8994a9ba5, inbound ActivityPub processing does not sufficiently verify that the actor authenticated by the signed request matches the Activity actor and owns the referenced federated post. A remote attacker can exploit these missing identity and ownership checks to edit, delete, or reply to federated posts without the required permissions. This vulnerability is fixed with commit 1c8518b0f2
- 7.7HighOct 14, 2026discourse XSSCVE-2026-91159Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.9.0, 2026.8.1, 2026.7.3, and 2026.1.9, oEmbed processing treated an entire attacker-controlled HTML fragment as trusted when the fragment contained an iframe whose source matched the configured allowlist. A user with posting permission who controlled a public webpage and its oEmbed response could combine an allowlisted iframe with unrelated sibling HTML or CSS, causing stored visual overlays or other styled content to appear in post
- 7.5HighOct 14, 2026discourse Information disclosureCVE-2026-91157Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.9.0, 2026.8.1, 2026.7.3, and 2026.1.9, sites with secure uploads enabled did not reconcile existing upload security metadata when a previously public category became read-restricted or when category permissions changed during a bulk import. Media and attachments uploaded while the category was public retained a public accessibility flag and remained reachable by anonymous users through their short upload URLs, including uploads assoc
- 7.5HighOct 14, 2026discourse Auth bypass / access controlCVE-2026-91156Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.9.0, 2026.8.1, 2026.7.3, and 2026.1.9, MessageBus audience calculation could deliver messages from a read-restricted category chat channel to an authenticated user who could view the category but was not allowed to use Chat under the site's group restrictions. The publication path bounded events by category visibility without also enforcing Chat eligibility, exposing live and recent message content available in the MessageBus backlog
- 5.4MediumSep 21, 2026discourse XSSCVE-2026-59830Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.7.0, the post action component failed to escape user-controlled display names before interpolating them into an HTML string passed to trustHTML. A user who could choose a crafted display name could persist markup in post action descriptions. Viewing the affected user activity streams could execute attacker-controlled script in another user's browser. This issue is fixed in version 2026.7.0.
- 5.3MediumJul 9, 2026discourse Information disclosureCVE-2026-59828Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, post revisions that should be hidden from regular users could be leaked through visible diffs on adjacent revisions serialized by PostRevisionSerializer. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 5.4MediumJul 9, 2026discourse XSSCVE-2026-55424Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, a topic "featured link" was not sufficiently normalized and escaped before being rendered in the topic list, allowing a user who can set a featured link to inject JavaScript when default Content Security Policy protections were modified or disabled. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 7.3HighJul 9, 2026discourse XSSCVE-2026-53963Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, a malicious second factor name on an attacker-controlled account was not escaped in the delete confirmation dialog, allowing stored cross-site scripting when an administrator impersonated that account. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 5.4MediumJul 9, 2026discourse XSSCVE-2026-53962Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, insufficient SVG sanitization in upload and user avatar handling could lead to cross-site scripting when a user visited specific URLs that are not normally part of community browsing. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 6.5MediumJul 9, 2026discourse Auth bypass / access controlCVE-2026-53961Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, the AWS SES bounce webhook at POST /webhooks/aws verified that SNS messages were signed by Amazon but did not bind them to trusted TopicArn values, allowing any AWS account holder to publish validly signed forged Bounce notifications that revoke a targeted user email. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 7.5HighJul 9, 2026discourse Information disclosureCVE-2026-49256Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, restricted tag and tag-group names attached to publicly readable categories as allowed_tags, allowed_tag_groups, or required tag groups could leak to anonymous and unauthorized users through category and group endpoints. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 6.5MediumJul 9, 2026discourse Auth bypass / access controlCVE-2026-46413Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, regular users could route direct S3 multipart uploads through ExternalUploadManager into the admin backup store. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 7.5HighJul 9, 2026discourse Information disclosureCVE-2026-45788Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, secure uploads could be exposed by pull_hotlinked_images when an attacker knew the secured upload URL and the secure_uploads site setting was enabled. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 5.3MediumJul 9, 2026discourse Information disclosureCVE-2026-45780Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, EventSerializer could expose invited group names, sample invitees, and attendance statistics to users who could view the topic but were not entitled to view the private event invitee list. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 8.2HighJul 9, 2026discourse Privilege escalationCVE-2026-44787Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, the signup flow could allow newly registered users to set primary_group_id and gain whisper-group privileges without legitimate group membership on sites with whispers_allowed_groups configured. This issue is fixed in versions 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5.
- 7.5HighJul 9, 2026discourse Code / command injectionCVE-2026-55420Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to 2026.6.0, 2026.5.1, 2026.4.2, and 2026.1.5, under certain non-default configurations, processing of PDF uploads could be exploited to obtain RCE on the server.
